Christchurch Music Update - December 2011
Welcome to the December 2011 Christchurch Music Update. The latest music news, events, competitions and giveaways for December 2011.
As the silly season gets into full swing, we await with baited breath the new Dux Live! opening. Music fans have been forced to wait but interest is high in the partial resurrection of a music icon in ChCh. Sporting a new 'rock warehouse' vibe we eagerly anticipate being able to see the December shows and enjoy a cold one poured by some of those familiar friendly faces.
Changes aplenty in the CHART offices in the new year, lookout for a website overhaul with new mobile features and a new fresh look. Check out Tom Lark this month's featured artist, some very catchy summery indie pop tunes for your tasteful ears. This Saturday sees Zinefest at The Darkroom on St Asaph St with swaps and talks from Rebel Press and others.
Festival action this month includes the coming busy weekend New World Food & Wine Festival, Ladi6 at Affirm & Summer Solstice (3Dec), DJ's at the X Games & The Mandeville Music Festival (10Dec) and Rhythm & Alps (28-29Dec) to get us all buzzing in the outdoors.
With thanks to RDU98.5FM the band to go into the nationwide shortlist for the BDO is announced this week, so stay tuned! Be sure to grab your copy of 'Love ChCh' - a compilation of ChCh acts with the money raised going towards a central city rehearsal space whose plans are full steam ahead. Please take 5 minutes to answer the Rehearsal Space Survey.
