Welcome to the November 2011 Christchurch Music Update.

The latest music news, events, competitions and giveaways for November 2011.
Some heat out there at last and while the summer sun is coming so is the festival season, all be it a stripped down schedule locally. Thank goodness for the Intl Jazz & Blues Festival (5-6Nov), the New World Food & Wine Festival (3Dec) and Rhythm & Alps (28-29Dec) to get us all pumping outside. For an insight into the city's talented Jazz musicians check out Jazz Slam 2011 (1-2Nov) and our youth at CPIT's Ignition Festival starting 1st Nov.
November sees the month long Flying Nun 30 Year Anniversary Tour hit town with shows from The Bats, Undercurrents, T54, Ipswich, The Subliminals, The Clean, HDU, Shayne Cater and many more. The hunt is on with RDU98.5FM for a Canterbury band to play the Big Day Out on Jan 20, entries close Nov 30th!
Be sure to grab your copy of 'Love ChCh' - a compilation of ChCh acts with the money raised going towards a central city rehearsal space. Local bands are populating The Brewery, The Archive/Darkroom, Zebedees and The Venue calendars and we await the grand opening of the new Dux Live... so check out what's on at mukuna.co.nz/christchurch.
