Clap Clap Riot Set to Release Debut Album 'Counting Spins' on June 15th
Clap Clap Riot are set to release their long awaited debut album entitled Counting Spins on June 15 through Clap Clap Records, distributed by Universal Music NZ.
Since their inception in 2008, the Auckland-basedfour-piece have played the Big Day Out, Splore, Rhythm & Vines twice, as well as racking up international support slots, and touring both New Zealand and Australia alongside artists The Naked And Famous, Birds of Tokyo, The Datsuns, The Checks, Cut Off Your Hands.
And, now finally the debut album beckons...
Recorded between Auckland's York Street Studios and Studio 203 with engineering maestro Andrew Buckton (Crowded House, Supergroove and The D4), Counting Spins features the Silver Scroll nominated single ‘Everyone's Asleep', as well as radio favourites ‘Moss Haired Girl' and ‘So You Say'. Clocking in at 39 minutes, Counting Spins is an unadulterated balls to the wall, frenzied, rock‘n'roll party right through until the outro of ‘Everywhere I Go', bringing the listener back into a state of melancholic bliss.
An explosion of honest pop songs masquerading as a dirty rock band.
"[Clap Clap Riot] were bursting with energy, the songs were ridiculously hooky and they had a fully formed sound and style. The combination of fizzy, perfectly formed pop songs and Stephen Heard's fidgety vocals is a daunting one, and the band is a rare example of the complete package. They could truly end up anywhere." Real Groove Magazine
"Their debut EP features five extremely catchy tracks packed with duelling guitar riffs, heavy hitting drums and powerful vocals giving the songs a lot of substance." Groove Guide
"Already well regarded for top-notch live shows, Clap Clap Riot belt out their songs like rebels with due cause..." Stephanie Grey, NZ Musician magazine
