Ha the Unclear Announce Growing Mould, Video and NZ Tour

July 27th 2015
Initially released as the third single from debut album Bacterium, Look at Your Motor Go, 'Growing Mould' has enjoyed success on bNets and alt radio and was voted a 'jizzer' in an ANZAC face off on Hauraki Breakfast.

Initially released as the third single from debut album Bacterium, Look at Your Motor Go, 'Growing Mould' has enjoyed success on bNets, alt radio and Hauraki. Now the song has been given richly textured video treatment through the work of director Mardo El-Noor and funding from NZ On Air.

Growing Mould's lyrics form a monologue as spoken through an intercom system by a character locked out of the apartment by their lover and El-Noor feeds the narrative element, framing the band and intricately composing shots to drive the story. Drawing from his background in photography and graphic design, El-Noor crafts a deeply engrossing and highly stylised video with swathes of tongue-in-cheek self-deprecation and charm.

PRESS

"I'm captivated in a way I normally reserve for bands I've been obsessed with for years. There's this gentle variance on the word odd that has somehow made me appreciate them like they were created just for me...underneath it all is this gorgeousness that has (thrice) given me such an overwhelming sense of peace that my eyeballs piss these clear eye piss tears." - SYFFAL.com

"I am in love with this extraordinary album...Newzild accent as thick as a scaffolding plank, singer/guitarist Michael Cathro leads this Dunedin-born band in crafting pop music of deep eccentricity and high ambition." - Grant Smithies (Sunday Star Times)

"the band are unlike any band you've heard before. They weave hilarious tales of anxiety and frustration, give intimate emotion to inanimate objects and raise questions about religion and morality within almost a single breath." - WhotheHell.com.au
