" syntho…mirrorball dance queen" – Nick Bollinger
“An unashamed nod to 80s synth pop.” The Dominion Post
In the deep dark woods, Wellington songstress Sophie Burbery’s super powered alter ego, electro-pop princess Little Bark, has unleashed a new song.
Her latest single 'In the Forest' is a wry and romantic samba about love among the tree tops. To accompany this sweet little ditty is an ensemble of woodland creatures that sing along in the super cute music video produced by Kate Logan and brought to life by a group of emerging visual artists from The Learning Connexion's International School of Art and Creativity. The single 'In The Forest' is being released on the 21st March 2011.
‘In The Forest’, described as pure synth pop, was co-produced with Conrad Wedde (The Phoenix Foundation) and mixed with award winning engineer Dr. Lee Prebble.
Little Bark burst forth fully formed in 2010 from an exploding mirrorball. She learned to harness her new powers from forest creatures – some of whom appear as cardboard cut-outs in her new video. And like all the best superheroes, Little Bark uses her powers for good - to make you dance.
Stuff.co.nz blogger Simon Sweetman described Little Bark’s sound as confident. “I knew I was listening to an artist prepared to take risks, prepared to polarise”.
NZ Musician said her music was “deliciously poppy and sugary sweet’.
In The Forest is available from the 21st of March on Bandcamp and Itunes.
