With her brand new album ‘RED GREY BLUE' recently released, singer songwriter Mel Parsons is in
celebration mode, hitting the road with her band for a 20 date NZ tour spanning Coast to Coast and tip to tail.
The shows kick off on September 24th at high altitude with a Real NZ show at Mt Olympus ski
field in Canterbury, and from there winds it's way around the country via some of Parsons' favourite venues.

Parsons will be joined by her band The Rhythm Kings, comprised of double bassist Aaron
Stewart, drummer/percussionist Nick George and introducing guitarist/vocalist Andrew Moore
(Thomas Oliver Band), along with special guest Gerry Paul (Tim O'Brien, Grada).

Following on from the success of her Tui-finalist debut album ‘Over My Shoulder' in 2009,
‘RED GREY BLUE' runs the gamut from gentle and assured to the depths of darkness and everything in
between. Parsons is one of NZ's rising songwriting stars, her bewitching vocals have been stopping
audiences in their tracks for the past few years. With an uncanny knack for hooks she is
"armed with instant sing-along choruses, a unique sensibility to melody and
harmony and stonking drum grooves" (Martyn Pepperell/Word on the Street).

Tickets to the shows are available in advance at eventfinder.co.nz with a special pre-sale album & ticket package deal.

"Parsons delivers beautifully succinct summaries of emotions and moments" Nick Ward (The Nelson Mail)

"Mel Parsons' sophomore album is like high quality aural chocolate - sweet, comforting, sometimes dark, full of subtle layers, and a treat for your ears." Lydia Jenkin (NZ Herald)

"Parsons has delivered an album with musical texture and colour but also well crafted songs which cover a range of real human emotions such as reflection, loss, bad love, happiness and the comfort of companionship." Grahan Reid (Elsewhere/Amplifier)

"Red Grey Blue shows a weariness and a maturity belying her age." Muzic.net.nz

"Red Grey Blue has a certain road-worn vibe as upfront and honest lyricism is encased in arrangements ranging from alt-country to folkish to sing-along pop and supported by clean electric guitars, chiming acoustics and good backing harmonies courtesy of Anika Moa, Anji Sami and others." Shane Gilchrist (Otago Daily Times)

"Her sophomore album is a cross-hybrid pop gem, full of simply-stated everywoman (and man) tales that resonate with earthiness and emotional honesty" Mike Alexander (Sunday Star Times)
