Neil Finn Awarded the Q Classic Songwriter at the 2010 Q Awards
"Neil Finn was awarded the Q Classic Songwriter at the Q Awards held at London's Grosvenor House last night (Monday). He was presented with the award by KT Tunstall, who told the audience that Finn was "a total pleasure to work with" and an "all-round dude." Finn himself thanked his brother Tim and members of Split Enz and Crowded House.
He then baited the host, comedian Al Murray. "You only hug the girls, don't you?" he quipped, getting a hug in turn.
Earlier, Finn had said of the award: "I have always been besotted by music even as a boy. My method in trying to fashion the perfect song is a roundabout pathway, and how it works is no clearer to me now than back in the day."" Christie Eliezer (taken from The Music Network)
Previous winners of the prestigious award have included: Yusuf Islam (formerly Cat Stevens), Billy Bragg, Noel Gallagher, Nick Cave and Elton John.
Neil and band have just finished their European Tour and will be appearing at Wellington's TSB Arena on Oct 31st and at the Westpac Arena in Christchurch on November 2nd.
