NZM Newsletter - February/March

February 25th 2011
First and foremost, our thoughts are with all of those affected by the Christchurch earthquake. You can find information on how to donate and support several earthquake appeals below.

On a lighter note... the Feb/March issue of NZM is hot-off-the-press and appearing in a music store near you. In this issue we frame up Tiki Taane, who reveals to Karl Puschmann plenty of exclusive and interesting stuff about his past, his busy present, and how the near future holds another album, to follow the release of his striking sophomore (drum'n'bass-ed) album 'In The World Of Light'.

Genius frontman Finn Andrews takes a break while shooting The Veils' latest star-studded music video to discuss his own newfound independence (and EP) with NZM's Lydia Jenkin. An Emerald City come home from Berlin to talk to Gareth Shute as they release their second album, naturally enough called, 'The Fourth'.
Richard Thorne chats to Andrew Maitai of Powertool Records following the 100th release from the staunchly underground Auckland label. 2010 Gold Guitar winner Saelyn Guyton and experimental guitarist Greg Malcolm provide a pair of wildly different On Foreign Soil features. Ex-pats Fredricks Brown return from NYC for the release of their EP 'Out Of The Rain' and NZM's resident Guitar Cool tuition guy Kevin Downing sifts through his mail to shed light on some of the most frequently asked reader questions.

All that and... plenty more besides...

Three Fresh Talent acts you should make room for on your ipod - Chris Hurn, Popstrangers and Blue Blood. We take a look at the likely major changes coming to NZ On Air's music funding and promo schemes and check out the newest gadgets at this years NAMM Show in Los Angeles. And five of the international industry players speaking at this year's Sounds Aotearoa give us a few handy pieces of wisdom. We're even giving away TWO registrations to the music industry conference and workshops (valued at $450 each). See below.

Annual subscriptions to NZ Musician are available within NZ for just $25 (six issues). Email info@nzmusician.co.nz for the details.
