Parachute Band to Release New Album MATINS : VESPERS
Parachute Band's fourth release represents a bold new move for the international worship pioneers.
A double album, MATINS : VESPERS combines the exciting exploration of the
band's sound with a nod to the ancient rhythms of worship music. The
album's name references the concept; a modern twist on the old canonical
offices used by the traditional church for generations.
MATINS, the first disc, presents a fresh spin on the orthodox practice of
the "morning songs" - the litanies that accompanied the rising of the day.
The seven tracks on MATINS boast some of the bands most exciting musical
evolution yet, as fearless electronic ambition is treated with polished
production. Tracks like lead single 'Keep the Fire Burning' are equal
parts congregational song and pop anthem.
VESPERS, the second disc, pays tribute to the practice of "evening
prayers"; the spacious, quiet reflections accompanying the close of the
day. Consisting of seven sprawling, wordless atmospheres, VESPERS presents
a canvas for devotion, from the Sigur Ros-like strains of 'Hark' to the
synthetic nature-scape 'Rallentando', a track that channels ambient sound
artist James Blake.
As is the band's tradition, MATINS : VESPERS will be released worldwide on
January 27th at Parachute Festival 2012 with the band playing a separate
set dedicated to each disc over the festival weekend.
