“My phone has being ringing with enquiries from musicians and budding musicians all keen to play or to meet mentors at Sounds Aotearoa.” said Artistic Director Emere Wano. “I saw Mihirangi in Canada late last year and she just blew me away so I jumped at the chance to include her in the showcases along with the gorgeous voice of Kirsten who has new material to share”.
Sounds Aotearoa is set to rock New Plymouth from 10-11 March finishing the night before WOMAD Taranaki commences.
There will be international media at the event which will mean international exposure for all of the talent performing at the showcases on the Wednesday and Thursday nights.
“To be able to play before international agents and media is a first for a New Zealand music event – we’ve invited some top notch people and so those playing at Sounds Aotearoa will be playing at their best and the public can be part of this as well!” said Emere Wano.
Tickets for both Wednesday and Thursday nights showcases at the Theatre Royal– TSB Showplace in New Plymouth are available now from Ticketek www.ticketek.co.nz <http://www.ticketek.co.nz> or at the box office at the TSB Showplace, Devon Street, New Plymouth. $40 + service fees and $50 + service fees at the door.
“Internationally, longterm this event can achieve what other markets do overseas and has great potential, therefore Kora stands to gain” said band manager Michelle Kora.
“Having this chance to network with top people in the music industry could (if the right buttons are pushed) accelerate an artist/musicians career to success. These are the types of people that have a lot of music industry knowledge and power to get artists' music heard in all different parts of the world. It can open many new doors. Sounds Aotearoa is something an artist should never pass up." said Maisey Rika.
