We played at El Santos in Lytellton, Christchurch on October 8th and had a great time. The two bands we played with (Loafer, and The Dialtones) were excellent. Oscar, who runs El Santos played some great tunes on his turntable behind the bar. We played 12 songs, then an additional four, and then due to audience enthusiasm a 17th song which we hadn't played for some months. A great gig, thanks to Loafer and The Dialtones, El Santos is a great venue as well. Big ups to RDU for some A rotate of "I Walked Into Your Space" and Volcanoe Radio in Lytellton as well.

Next day we headed down to Port Chalmers in Dunedin to play at Chicks Hotel. This was another groovy little pub/venue. The Political Nobodys and The Maybe Pile put on good shows. It was a more subdued night than the raucous Christchurch affair so I was pleasantly surprised by a seemingly unaminous burst of enthusiasm near the end of the set when I asked whether we should play on once we reached the 12 song mark. So once again we played a long set. I was heartened at both gigs by discussions with locals who had bought the albums and given them a lot of listening time. Our fans are few in numbers but they are discerning and thoughtful (not that that's much consolation to our record company) I was suprised that anyone knew our music in Dunedin as they don't get KiwiFM, and we haven't had playlisting on Radio One. My guess is they listen to Daves "The Local", an NZ music show on Radio One that plays us a fair bit.

Next stop this weekend is The Royal Hotel in Palmerston North on Friday and The Watusi Bar on Sunday.

Cheers, Darren.
