The MurderChord - the Swarm
They say that rock'n roll is a hell of a drug
Auckland duality the MurderChord (Ryan – Drums, Dave – Piano/Vox) is the dealer, the method, the market,
and the actual SHIT. Since May 2008 they've taken the live show all over New Zealand, and have the second
Auzzie mission locked in for rOctober.
What the MurderChord lacks in digital loops, funding, and robots, it makes up for, by being perfectly in time to
start with, being reasonably in tune to start with, and paying careful attention some of the other minor details
before they get started too. Little things like, covering the number 1 hit of the headline act, collaborating with
rappers, hardcore, and indie kids, releasing random videos constantly are just the sort of shenanigans that
makes the whole rock'n'roll world worth crushing up and snorting.
They've released a demo (hand made mini CD's - October 2008) and delivered a Blunt Cut (8 track EP -
June/July 2009.) They've played all the usuals with the usuals and some of the unexpected with the plain
bizarre, and they've been compared to the most unlikely of characters.
Now the time has come for theMurderChord to ReleaseTheSwarm.
Dave tries to explain ...
“ there's a new theory in town: LOTS OF LITTLE ONES ARE HARDER TO EXTERMINATE THAN ONE BIG
ONE. Thats the deal with theSwarm. a series of annoying little fuckers equipt with 5 trax of studio recordings
and live video's and stickers instead of front covers...
this means we only need to disappear into the studio for a night or two to get the whole record done, and it
means you guys always have the latest songs on disc”
OTHER NECESSARY FUN FACTS/CLARIFICATIONS
- With songs ranging from whiskey through to various forms of radiation. SwarmOne is released via Puppy
Killer Records and distributed via Rhythmethod on September 17th. It will also be available digitally via DRM
and available to purchase online.
- As well as his own recording studio, Dave also has a record label - this cuts out lots of unnecessary bullshit.
- Whiskey is necessary. As videoone songone swarmone can attest to.
- Ryan owns a mean video camera and turns out he’s pretty flash with that stuff. Videos are necessary so
there’s a 15 min live video included on the physical CD release. (dare you to ask them about THAT day)
- You can buy a piano off trademe for a dollar and then proceed to lay waste to it with flames, sledgehammers,
balaclavas and ryans 2 year old daughter Alice. And then make it into an album cover.
- SwarmReturns is going to kick SwarmOnes ass. It’s already recorded & will be released at the end of
November. SwarmIntelligence is already written, and OtherSwarm related activities is just a big pile of
ingredients sitting in Dave’s pocket.
- No unnecessary packaging was used in this product. One could argue stickers are necessary.
- There will probably be vinyl, bonus tracks, free stuff, technical difficulties and more TBA.
