A Big School Sing-Along Planned for 31 May

May 11th 2010
What to do at school on the last day of NZ Music Month? How about a grand ole Sing A-Long!

Last week we told you about the fantastic song ‘Made In New Zealand' by Amber, Nikki & Katherine from Gisborne Girls' High School and how it won our song writing competition 'Hook, Line & Sing A-Long'.

You might have even seen them on TV One's Breakfast this morning, talking about their experience yesterday recording their winning song at Stebbing Studios.

Now - Here's the Hook - This is only the beginning for this song. On the last day of NZ Music Month, we want everyone to sing a long!

The national music teachers association - MENZA - and the Music Commission are coming together for ‘Hook Line & Sing-A-long'.

At 12:00 noon on 31 May, the idea is that every school in the nation celebrates great homegrown music by singing 'Made In New Zealand'.

MENZA has mailed lead sheets and direction for ‘Made In New Zealand' to all 2,800 NZ schools to ready students for ‘Hook Line and Sing-along'.

An MP3 of the song and of a guide track for learning the song is available at http://nzmusic.org.nz/resources/education/hook-line-and-singalong-winning-song-mp3/ and www.menza.org.nz, along with pdfs of lead sheets to help learning the chords.

Register your school as one of the ‘Hook, Line & Sing-Along' schools by emailing:
