New Videos, Hook Line & Singalong 2011, How to Write an Artist Bio, and Who's Playing CMJ!

October 15th 2010

This week we take a look at CMJ Music Marathon which takes place in New York over October 19-23. This year is the 30th anniversary of the festival and ten local acts are making the journey over to play showcases including the NZ@CMJ 2010 showcase.

The inaugural NZ@CMJ event in 2007 was dubbed “one of the hottest tickets at CMJ” by UK music bible NME, this year it features performances from New Zealand artists Zowie, Street Chant , Kids Of 88, Electric Wire Hustle and Lawrence Arabia and Ruby Frost.

For those budding song writers the NZ Secondary School’s competition to Write The Song of New Zealand Music Month 2011 closes to entrants mid November. We take a look at the competition and last years winners.

Plus we have in our Artists Resource sections two new information clips and a new downloadable document.

As you will see from the results there was no real consensus of opinion other than bios are an essential tool for an artist, there are however some useful tips and suggestions for what should or shouldn’t be included.
