Jon Toogood Returns to Wellington Schools

August 3rd 2014
To the delight of three schools in the Hutt Valley near Wellington, Jon Toogood took time out from promoting the August 8th release of the new Shihad album, FVEY, to return to the Musicians Mentoring in Schools Programme.

Jon worked with students at Taita College, Newlands College, and Hutt Valley High School. Teacher Mat Hoyes said, "Jon was fantastic. He was good at identifying what worked with what they had and expanding it with them. As well as that, he is so thoroughly inspiring and full of energy and passion for what he does, that it gave them a real boost to see someone who is saying 'you can do what I do, you just have to work hard and be dedicated.'

As well as offering his insider's perspective about the music industry, Jon workshopped the students' original songs. A student from Newlands College said that his favourite part of the Mentorship was "How thorough Jon was with his feedback - he gave us some really helpful advice and connected to all of us."

Jon will be Mentoring in Christchurch from September 15-17 following the free, all-ages Shihad concert at Horncastle Arena on September 12.
