Music Industry Festival Showcase Endeavours to Produce Export Ready Artists

Sounds Aotearoa is a two-day music event that has three main elements to it - a conference, an expo and artist showcases/performances.

Sounds Aotearoa is a two-day music event that has three main elements to it - a conference, an expo and artist showcases/performances.

Sounds Aotearoa is designed to: facilitate exposure, networking, capacity building, and business promotion. The two-day event provides an opportunity for musicians, promoters, managers and others to work with industry experts to learn and share with one another. It also enables the public to enjoy some performances by leading musicians.

Showcases/performances
Over two evenings a selection of New Zealand artists will perform as part of the showcase programme. Anyone can buy a ticket to these evening sessions and delegates who are registered for the full two-day event receive free entry. You never know who you might meet at these sessions! NZ music industry trade expo
The expo will house exhibition booths of private and public industry professionals including non-government agencies and government departments. This aspect of the event will provide valuable information, resources and contacts in areas like: funding; venues; legal matters; technology; promotions; and more.

Conference
This aspect of the event is the ‘think tank’ for the New Zealand music industry. It will consist of interactive activities such as: panels, forums and workshops. A full timetabled programme will be released in a couple of months. In the meantime please feel to contact us if you have any questions or refer to last year’sprogramme to get a feel of what you can expect.

Where

When
Sounds Aotearoa will take place on Wednesday 16 and Thursday 17 March 2011.
The conference and trade expo are day-time activities and in the evenings on both days a selection of New Zealand’s most promising and talented artists will perform.

 

Sounds Aotearoa Scholarship

Sounds Aotearoa is all about developing the New Zealand music industry. In keeping with this goal, Sounds Aotearoa is offering three scholarship packages to enable three passionate people who are committed to the New Zealand’s music industry to attend New Zealand’s only music industry conference and expo which also features artist showcases.

If you know someone who has a proven interest and commitment to the New Zealand music industry please pass on this information to them and suggest they apply.

Sounds Aotearoa scholarship includes:
Registration to Sounds Aotearoa (value $275)
WOMAD three-day ticket (value $229)
Return flights within New Zealand
Six nights accommodation

Sounds Aotearoa provides the opportunity to network directly with New Zealand’s music industry as well as with delegates from overseas who are heading to New Plymouth, Taranaki, for this once a year opportunity.

Joined together Sounds Aotearoa and WOMAD New Zealand (World of Music, Art and Dance) provide five days of unique and exciting music related opportunities that are not available anywhere else in New Zealand.
