NZM Newsletter - Prizes Galore
NZM's August-September 2010 issue is out now, hot of the press and, as the cover pic suggests, is sharper than a saguaro thorn. Marking 22 non-stop years of publication, it's literally jam packed with heaps of incisive artist interviews and all those other trademark free NZM goodies.
The ever prickly Die! Die! Die! grace the cover, and inside talk pointedly about the long delayed release of 'Form', their third album, signing to the recently rewinged Flying Nun, and how what some may consider pessimism means they're never gonna be disappointed.
As always there's plenty of other deep and meaningful artist coverage in this issue which comes bonused with the very handy 2011 NZM Music Industry Training Courses Directory!
After a decade of unmatched chart success Nesian Mystik reveal why they have decided to make '99AD' their final album as a band; Fur Patroller Julia Deans tells the tale of her gorgeous new solo album 'Modern Fables'; talented Arch Hill young guns Surf City and Street Chant talk about recording their inspired debut albums without a budget; Batucada Sound Machine entertain with tour stories from their latest European sojourn; super catchy dance-smiths Kids of 88 give perspective to their unintentional rise to fame and the making of their just-out debut album 'Sugarpills'; hard-travelling story teller Delaney Davidson calls in from the USA to shoot the breeze about his engaging latest release; Eru Dangerspiel shines a light around his bat cave; Devonport's next-in-lines The Earlybirds diss the "Shore Core" factor; former 8-Footers, now ethical metallers The Mark of Man, tell how their music delivers a message against animal cruelty and folk-smith Timothy Blackman talks about the influence of his nomadic lifestyle on his music. Enough already? There's even more...
Step inside for NZM's regular no-nonsense, uber-helpful columns, lessons, music equipment reviews and pages of Fresh Cut album/EP reviews from all over the musical place.
