An exciting and eclectic collection of musical acts from New Zealand will grace the stage at this week's CMJ Music Marathon festival in New York. The NZ@CMJ Showcase is one of CMJ's opening night events and is a collaboration between New Zealand music promotion agencies NZ On Air and the NZ Music Commission - with the goal being to assist Kiwi acts to break into the international arena.

Making the journey to NYC this year are Die! Die! Die!, Surf City, Motocade, Kingston, Bang Bang Eche and Kidz In Space, along with hip hop acts David Dallas and Smashproof.

The NZ@CMJ showcase event began in 2007. The inaugural showcase was dubbed ‘one of the hottest tickets at CMJ' by UK music bible NME and helped gain traction for the likes of Liam Finn, Cut Off Your Hands and The Brunettes. The word spread and the 2008 show was crammed too for Bang Bang Eche, The Naked & Famous and college radio darlings The Ruby Suns.

This year, with the help of 42BELOW and their music platform 42Unheard, they have expanded the capacity for the event, moving it to the Red Bull Space in Soho, NYC. Cocktails provided by 42BELOW and wine provided by Wild Rock Wines.

Vice President of Content at CMJ Network Rev. Moose says "New Zealand knows how to party with style. I'm always impressed with the quality of artists represented by this relatively small population from the other side of the globe. The Kiwis have done a stellar job branding their nationality as a collection of stunning sounds from deserving new talent. CMJ Music Marathon & Film Festival is proud to be a destination for emerging artists from such a bountiful source".
