July 12th 2019
Sydney based label SBD Music proudly announces that New Zealand recording artist Aly Cook’s 3rd album ‘Caught in the Middle’ will be released by the label on September 27th and will be distributed by MGM.

SBD Music is a partnership between Sebastian Chase, music industry stalwart and owner of Australia’s largest independent music distributor MGM (Metropolitan Groove Merchants), songwriter and producer Graham ‘Buzz’ Bidstrup, best known as a founding member of classic Australian bands The Angels and GANGgajang, and David Nicholas, a multi ARIA award winning producer and engineer whose resume includes credits on many top Australian and International albums including INXS, Jimmy Barnes and Elton John.

The Kiwi vocal powerhouse has been writing songs for the past 3 years with Buzz and his wife Kay Bidstrup who is also a founding member of GANGgajang. ‘Caught in the Middle’ is a captivating mix of Country, Blues and Roots music featuring original compositions, including a co-write with renowned Golden guitar winner Allan Caswell plus a handful of covers recorded for the Asquith Sessions no.3.

As a special treat, a couple of songs feature guest vocals from multi award winning Kiwi artist and long time friend of Aly’s, Sharon O’Neill. Sharon joins a cast of outstanding musicians including members of The Tracking Crew with Buzz on drums, Rick Melick keys, James Gillard bass and the late Glen Hannah on guitar. Others to help out were Dean Ray on acoustic guitar, Clive Harrison bass, George Washingmachine violin, John Kaldor pedal steel, with Asquith Sessions singer Jon Abo joining Aly , Buzz & Kay Bidstrup on backing vocals.

The production of the album has been funded by Cook’s successful pre-sale/crowdfunding page on her website with supporters from 16 countries pre ordering the album .

Cook has been in Sydney putting the final touches to the album before heading to Western Australia’s Kimberley region to perform at the Kununurra Agricultural show. On the way home Aly will stop in Alice Springs to film a music video and then on to Victoria where she will perform at the Barham Country Stampede.

After a well earned rest in NZ, Aly will return to Australia prior to the release of the album to perform a number of showcases and a spot at the Mildura Country Music Festival running from the 27th September to the 6th of October. A run of dates on both sides of the Tasman will be announced soon.
