Origin Roots Aotearoa Releases HE REO ORA, an Album to Celebrate Te Reo Māori

March 20th 2023
Origin Roots Aotearoa (O.R.A) has released ‘’He reo ORA” its first full reo Māori EP.

O.R.A frontman Eugene Temara (Ngāi Tūhoe, Raukawa ki Wharepuhunga, Waikato, Te Arawa) says the album fuses Māori pop with reggae.

“We have amazing musicians; the vision is there and I’m able to create waiata that we know will resonate”.  A couple of the songs in the EP were part of the last album – ORA Coming for ya. “We loved our songs so much we wanted to include full reo Māori versions too”.

We've recently celebrated that our collective waiata have reached over 1million streams - something we're really proud of and that the majority of those streams are for our reo Māori songs. Coming off the back of a successful Te Matatini campaign for two of our members Erena and Eugene Temara who stood with Te Kapa Haka o Ngāti Whakaue and were 2nd equal overall - the rōpū from Rotorua is riding this positive wave.

We’re thankful for our relationship with Te Māngai Pāho and their support of our vision.
