The mighty Wanaka NYE festival Rhythm & Alps is immeasurably proud of its 12-year-long reign as the ultimate Te Wai o Pounamu New Years' party.
The three-day music and camping festival opens in the afternoon on December 29th, when punters will stream in over the iconic Cardrona river, from when the gates open until the last act finishes in the wee hours of January 1st 2023, Rhythm & Alps will be filled with thousands of good humans for the hottest kiwi summer indulgence in music and celebration.
The three-day festival welcomes 10,000 partygoers and more than 6,000 campers. Just over 40 per cent of the people who attend come from outside the region, helping bring a significant increase in regional spending and a palpable buzz to Wanaka and surrounding areas.
Turnbull adds “We are over the moon that we are entering the 12th edition of Rhythm and Alps Festival. R&A is the country's favourite road trip and we welcome people from all over Aotearoa to the Southern Lakes for their ultimate NYE experience.”
