Smokefreerockquest Winners Arlo Mac and There’s a Tuesday Release Debut Singles

November 29th 2019
Today Smokefreerockquest winners Arlo Mac and There’s A Tuesday each release their debut single.

There's A Tuesday

Christchurch based duo 'There’s A Tuesday' is the collaboration of best friends Nat Hutton and Minnie Robberds. They are the 2019 winners of the national Smokefreerockquest competition in the solo-duo category.

Their debut single, Piñata Head was recorded at Roundhead Studios with producer Chris Mac (Six60).

The lyrics of the song centre around the idea of over-thinking, telling the story of hosting a birthday party and feeling anxious about no one is enjoying themselves. About the song Nat Hutton says "I think what makes Piñata Head so special is that we share the idea of over thinking in a non-confronting and party-ful way".

Arlo Mac

'Arlo Mac' make are a four-piece indie-rock band from the Hawkes Bay.
They are the 2019 winners of the national Smokefreerockquest competition in the band category.  Ease My Mind was written and performed by 'Arlo Mac', with Harry Mason on guitar and vocals, Benjamin Bush on lead guitar, Joe Ledword on bass and Thomas Grant on drums. The track was recorded at Roundhead Studios with producer Chris Mac (Six60).

About the track frontman Harry Mason says "what's special about Ease My Mind is the fact that we combine over-driven guitar sounds with a punchy kick and snare pattern, but still keep an alternative sort of vibe. Mason says the song is about reflecting on the part relationships play is shaping your life,  and considering all the things that could have been.

'Arlo Mac' go into their final year of school in 2020, and then hope to go into a career of making music together.
