Sports Dreams elicit vivid vignettes of North Island roadtrips with their lilting, thoughtful, brand of electronic pop. The Wellington-based duo are releasing their sophomore EP Weather Admitting and beginning a national tour today.

The first single from Weather Admitting, DIY, was well received, with describing it as"bringing massive feels...Petersen declares "you win, unknowingly I let you in" atop a lush bed of panoramic guitars, heart-melting keys and minimal, almost industrial-textured electronic percussion." These characteristics continue throughout the EP, whether on the upbeat shout out to good friends, Fuzzy, or the ballad to a Pōneke landmark, Matairangi. The centrepiece and highlight of the EP though is track 3 Banger - a summery, gliding track with a chorus that breaks open and ends with an honest refrain of "you have to know I can't put this on."

To celebrate the release of the EP, Shannen and Fraser will be taking Weather Admitting on the road throughout spring. Starting in Palmerston North, the tour will also visit Auckland, Hamilton and Christchurch, while their hometown show will be at the iconic Welsh Dragonin Wellington.

Released in 2019, the band's eponymous debut EP Sports Dreams was a Student Radio Network favourite, while standout single Drivewas selected as a song of the month by The Spinoff.  Shannen Georgia Petersen's "powerful and dramatic vocals...sway and drift through layers of heartfelt pain, betrayal, and fear" (White Light/White Heat) while Fraser Williams provides the canvas; a "hazy time-lapsed sonic reflection" (Undertheradar).

Weather Admitting is out now via Papaiti Records.
