Tattletale Saints Frontman Cy Winstanley Releases Grown-Up Friendly Kids Song

May 24th 2018

As songwriter and frontman of Tui Award Winning, Silver Scroll nominated Tattletale Saints, Cy Winstanley pens tales both candid and tall.

Known for his vivid imagery and fluid storylines, his writing has shifted and adapted to the varying phases of his life, including a recent relocation from his New Zealand homeland to Nashville, TN.

'Marley Sitting on a Pumpkin Seed' is his first foray into children's music.

Inspired by the birth of his niece Marley, Cy wanted to "create something that captured the surreal beauty of her home in Central Otago, and also teach her about the crazy banjos and mandolins that have become part of my life in Tennessee".

Recorded in Nashville, the song features a who's who of session players, including Tattletale Saints bassist Vanessa McGowan. The distinctive bluegrass instrumentation shares the joyousness of Roger Miller, and the patient lope of 70's country gentleman Don Williams.

With beautiful artwork by Auckland designer Rebecca Ter Borg, this is a fun, atypical song for kids and adults alike.

Released by Old Oak Music, 'Marley Sitting on a Pumpkin Seed' is available now from iTunes, Spotify, Apple Music and all good digital outlets.
