XXMT: Symposium for Women & Technology

A 1 day event of workshops, seminars and performances that aim to highlight, support and encourage women working in music technology.

Everyone welcome - burgeoning practitioners, supporters, experts, and all genders.

10am-1pm | Arduino workshop: Build your own Arduino circuit with Sasha Leitman, PhD candidate at Victoria University of Wellington.

2pm-8:30pm | Symposium: Presentations + Film Screening + Performances

Presentations: 
- Estère | electronic musician, artist, producer
- Bridget Johnson | sound artist, Music Technology Lecturer and Major Coordinator at College of Creative Arts Toi Rauwharangi at Massey University
- Sally Jane Norman | scholar-practitioner, Director and Professor at New Zealand School of Music-Te Kōkī at Victoria University of Wellington.

Followed by a panel discussion chaired by Anne Niemetz | media artist, senior lecturer at the School of Design at Victoria University of Wellington.

Screening:
Screening of A Life in Waves, a documentary fresh from SXSW 2017 that explores the life and innovations of electronic music pioneer, Suzanne Ciani.

Performances:
Flo Wilson, EDIE, Embedded Figures, Blaek, and visuals by Lady Lazer Light.
