YAHYAH Delivers Waiata Anthem ‘I Like You (Feat. MOHI)'
YAHYAH shares pop hit ‘I Like You,’ featuring Māori neo-soul artist MOHI, as a part of 2023’s Waiata Anthems Week.

Produced by Nic Manders, and co-written with Anna Coddington and Hana Mereraiha, I Like You is a light-hearted love song between two people. One side tells the narrative of a coming home and falling in love with a Māori boy, and the other side is a light hearted, cheeky response to feeling the same way about someone.
Accompanying the release is a short documentary that follows YAHYAH confronting her fears to honour her late mother through Māori melodies. Talking about her te reo Māori journey, the artist proclaims “when I sing in Te Reo, it opens up a part of my soul that hasn’t been touched before. Why would I not want to pursue that?”
Further bringing the bilingual track to life, the 70s inspired music video, directed by Zac Emerson, is set as the quintessential summer Kiwi BBQ. Filled with Kiwiana, the delivery of the track and video are sure to fill fans with nostalgia, as well as shining light on the international stage with what Aotearoa musicians have to offer.
The track is made with the support of NZ On Air and Te Māngai Pāho.
