Savina Fountain - What Does Suffrage 125 Mean to You?

October 10th 2018
Even though we are geographically isolated and at the bottom of the world, we're miles ahead in a lot of areas - I am so proud to call myself a Kiwi.

What do you do in the industry?

I am an Account Manager for Auckland Live so I have the absolute pleasure of booking our great venues Auckland Town Hall, ASB Theatre, Civic Theatre, Bruce Mason Centre, Shed10 & The Cloud! I also founded the IGNITE Programme, my passion project which is a free 12-week programme that engages young people aged 15-18 to learn the ins and outs of the music industry. Participants are paired up with industry mentors, attend seminars and workshops, receive work experience opportunities. Event Management participants then get to apply their skills learnt to produce an all ages show in pairs, with our Music Production participants getting into the studio to produce a track.

What does Suffrage 125 mean to you and what advice would you offer other women pursuing their dreams and career goals?

I'm a big advocate for fostering and empowering the next generation of industry professionals, the people that can help our talented musicians achieve their dreams! We are all here because we share a passion for music so anyone who loves music and is keen to be involved in a dynamic and rewarding industry should go for it - and it would be great to see more women in the industry!

What does New Zealand being a world leader in social change mean to you?

Even though we are geographically isolated and at the bottom of the world, we're miles ahead in a lot of areas - I am so proud to call myself a Kiwi.
