Touring Well With Bronwyn Halley
We talk to Bronwyn Halley about her touring well tips!
What do you always do before you go onstage?
Warm up and have a drink of water. I also find talking to people either in the audience or the staff at the venue helps keep the nerves at bay too.
How many days in a row can you perform? - before your voice/body needs a break.
Depends on the length of the gig. If we're talking 1-2 hours I've done 5 days in a row or by some miracle I've done 3 days of 4 hour cover gigs in a row. I feel pretty wrecked afterwards though.
What hacks do you have to make sure you get enough rest?
Planning ahead and knowing my boundaries. If I have a lot of gigs coming up I'll take it easy during the day. Also lots of naps! And not being ashamed of pulling over and sleeping in the car if I need to haha.
If eating a balanced diet is important to you, how are you able to find healthy options while you are touring?
It's very hard! Fruit and veges are the easiest things when you don't have constant access to a fridge and oven, etc but it can be very boring and hard not to give in to takeaways. Also when the venue provides a meal I try to make the most of it and get something nice but still hopefully semi healthy.
What do you enjoy most about touring?
Singing in new places and meeting and connecting with new people
