WAIATA / ANTHEMS NZ’S BIGGEST ARTISTS PERFORMING THEIR BIGGEST SONGS IN TE REO MĀORI
Waiata/Anthems is out NOW!
Māori Language Week / Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori 2019 is happening from today until Sunday 15th September, and what better way to celebrate than diving into the new Waiata / Anthems collection, featuring Aotearoa musical icons performing their songs in Te Reo Māori. Such notable names as Bic Runga, Tami Neilson, TEEKS, Hātea Kapa Haka and more re-interpreted and recorded their songs in collaboration with Sir Tīmoti Kāretu and trailblazing songwriter Hinewehi Mohi – who famously performed the New Zealand National Anthem in Te Reo at an All Blacks Rugby World Cup quarter final in 1999, sparking a nationwide conversation around our indigenous language's everyday use.
'Waiata / Anthems' is out now via Universal.
Māori Language Week runs from 9th to 15th September 2019.
