Touring Well with Aaradhna

  • What do you always do before you go onstage?
Usually relax in the green room. Warm up and work on vocal exercises whilst drinking a cup of hot Honey & Lemon tea. We always have a team huddle with my band where we say a prayer together to bless each other and our performance before we hit the stage.

How many days in a row can you perform? - before your voice/body needs a break.
This is really undetermined as I would like to have a day break in between tours but that's not always the case. The most consecutive nights I have performed in the past would be around 8 - 12 shows. I haven't had tours at this magnitude most recently and would definitely look at planning breaks in between. Maybe at 2 or 3 shows before a break.

What hacks do you have to make sure you get enough rest?
For me travel time in between shows in either ground transport or planes is where I like to catch up on sleep. It's so hard on show nights to sleep as your body is still in adrenaline mode so I make sure I can catch up whilst we are travelling. I usually take my neck pillow, night eyes & ear plugs with me. If I'm not using my ear plugs then I will have my headphones on playing calming, spiritual relaxing sleep music.

If eating a balanced diet is important to you, how are you able to find healthy options while you are touring?
This is one of the hardest things to plan for as you are moving from city to city at a fast pace so the easiest is always quick fast food options. For places we do have some down time in we like to look up Yelp or ask some fellow muso's and see if we can find healthier options. I have also asked our Tour Manager to grab some food from the local grocery stores at times.

What do you enjoy most about touring?
I love my band, the conversations, the bonding, the positive energy that I feel amongst my group. We all come from different walks in life so every time where together it's like we are going on a camping trip where we fill in each other about our lives at present. The music that we listen to on the road, the love we share on the stage only helps towards the growth of love in ourselves. Whilst we are performing, the fans reactions and energy in each venue is always something to take away also, because it reminds you that they do listen to your music and do support you as a person in today's society.
