Venue of the Day - Kings Sound Centre

  • What drives you to bring live music to your area?

We both come from a family background where music was a part of everyday life. Eboney's father Albert Taylor was a well knowing entertainer in Foxton NZ. He ran a local youth music group in the 80s to late 90s which drove Eboney's passion for people and music. Paul started playing the drums in his early teens, his father Bruce King was a session drummer and is still active today, encouraged his sense of rhythm and love of music. Today we are at our 10th year owning Kings Sound Centre - local musical instrument store, so you can only imagine the talent that comes through the doors. We are lucky to be a part of a community rich with talent.

What days of the week do you have live music?

Saturdays are our favourite day to house live music. We frequently have musicians play outside our store and welcome bands to promote CD releases etc. For example we have had The J geeks .Parabola West and Cabin fever. Artists regularly stop in for a coffee when they play in town. We love supporting all walks of life and encourage the live music scene which is growing every year in the Horowhenua area.

Tell us about a favourite live music moment?
Our very first Music Month Levin was a great success with limited funding. it didn't stop the amount of support we had to back such a great day. The main stage on the day was located out the front of the store Kings Sound Centre which is located on SH. The buzz of having live music fill the streets was what drove us to continue the yearly event for our community. It's family friendly and free.
