Venue of the Day - Yonder

  • What drives you to bring live music to your area?

We were really looking to inject some culture into Queenstown and open a venue that could host a multitude of talents from NZ's best indie rock bands to International hip hop artists. Queenstown is clearly a beautiful spot and justifiably has such a focus on tourism, however sometimes the locals get lost a little bit and any culture can get drowned out by all the messaging this town has to offer. Most of all, we were looking to provide a hang-out spot where you could drink some beers, listen to some music and be guaranteed a good time. It's all about being accessible yet undefinable.

What days of the week do you have live music?

Thursday - Saturday and sometimes we even throw down a cheeky Sunday session out in our all weather beer garden.

Tell us about a favourite live music moment?
Ahhh we knew this question would come up but it's hard to pick as there's been so many! I think any time we host some of NZ's up and coming talents, like the Mako Road boys or the local Lizard Den legends, it's just genuinely putting a smile on peoples faces. Seeing the band have an amazing time and the place full, absolutely going nuts is a rad contrast to being a cafe during the day too! Oh and the time we had Oddisee and Good Company band sell out the place was an insane, intimate moment for the 220 of us!

Please give us details of how and where people can find your venue?

Come say hello! We're at 14 Church Street, Queenstown. Out the back of the historic McNiels cottage is a place for all your late night mischief. Follow us on @yonderlive too for what's going on.
