In their New Zealand home, Shapeshifter have had strings of record breaking sell out tours and have been voted New Zealand's Best Live Act. They created an unforgettable experience when they performed with leading Symphony orchestras selling out their shows months in advance. in Australia, Shapeshifter repeatedly sell out their tours and have headlined major festivals including Parklife and the Big Day Out. They were handpicked by Tool to support them in Melbourne to a massive sold out audience of 15,000.

Their popularity has been replicated in the Northern Hemisphere with sold out performances in London's Electric Ballroom, Cargo and Shepherd's Bush Empire and throughout Europe. MTV UK has described their performance as "Polished, tight and non-stop, they pushed the boundaries to showcase a unique live dance music experience." In 2008 Shapeshifter rocked venues in Paris, Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Bristol, Brighton, Edinburgh and finished with a legendary sold out show at London's Shepherd's Bush Empire which had fans so frenzied they were climbing the walls.

Shapeshifter's third studio album Soulstice has a star line up featuring Shapeshifter's artistic talents and features vocals from some of New Zealand's finest. It was released in the UK in December 2008 as a deluxe edition with remixes by D-Bridge (Exit Records), Hospital's soulful star Nu:Tone, The Upbeats and The Nextmen. Music Week described the album as "A Treat For drum and bass addicts requiring emotional substance with Knowledge Magazine describing it as "Warm bouncing bass and yearning vocals over tight shuffling beats." In 2008 their single "One" was released on vinyl on Nu:Tone's Brand Nu label and has been remixed by legendary producer D-Bridge, founder of D&B outfit Bad Company, which has become an underground classic receiving internationals radio play including Radio One.

Shapeshifter have released three consecutive number one independent albums on their own label, Truetone Recordings. Soulstice obtained Gold sales status in three weeks and Shapeshifter were the second independent drum and bass act to achieve Platinum sales. For Soulstice, Shapeshifter were awarded a phenomenal 3 awards at the New Zealand bnet (independent) music awards for Best Live Act, Song of the Year for "Bring Change" and Album of the Year for Soulstice and the New Zealand Music Award for Best Electronic Album. In Australia the first run of Soulstice albums were sold out in 5 days.
