Kaitlyn Rodley to Launch Debut EP What Grows Here at The Piano in Christchurch

Emerging singer-songwriter Kaitlyn Rodley will step into the spotlight this spring with her debut concert held in the iconic Philip Carter Family Concert Hall at The Piano in Christchurch on Saturday, September 13.

The performance will mark the official launch of her debut EP, What Grows Here – a collection of Christian folk and acoustic indie songs.

With two singles already released, Rodley’s music has begun resonating with listeners drawn to her honest lyricism and organic sound. Her style has been likened to artists such as Brooke Fraser, and John Mark Pantana, using open, resonant guitar work with floating harmonies.

Rodley is one of two recipients of The Piano’s inaugural Bronwyn Bijl Scholarship, which supports emerging Canterbury-based artists to realise a project through venue and technical support, mentoring and professional development.

Releasing a collection of my own songs has been a dream of mine for some time now, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to bring it to life in such an exciting way,” says Rodley. “What Grows Here is meant to be raw and real. It’s really all in the name, while also speaking to what could come next.”

Marcus Norman, Director of The Piano says “Supporting emerging artists on their journey is a core part of our mahi at The Piano, and we’re excited to enable Kaitlyn to produce her exceptional debut EP. Kaitlyn has a bright future ahead, and we’re proud to support her as one of two inaugural Bronwyn Bijl scholarships recipients.”

The live performance promises to be a thoughtfully crafted evening, with the stories behind each song woven throughout. Attendees can expect to hear Rodley’s full EP live for the first time, with more original and favourite songs of Rodley and special guests. Tickets on sale now at Eventfinda and The Piano’s website.
