The Datsuns blazed into global consciousness with their 2002 self-titled debut, a record that topped the NZ charts and hurled them onto stages with Metallica, The White Stripes, and Queens of the Stone Age. Over the past two decades, they’ve released seven albums, worked with Led Zeppelin’s John Paul Jones, and carved out a reputation as one of New Zealand’s fiercest rock exports.
Now, for the first time since 2018, The Datsuns return home for a six-date Aotearoa tour. Kicking off in March 2026, the run promises joyous savagery, riffs honed to perfection, and the raw energy that has defined the band’s legacy. Scandinavian drummer Adam Lindmark is taking up the thundering seat, joining lead string wrangler Christian Livingstone, Phil Somervell on the rhythmic weavings, and Dolf de Borst conjuring hooks across hemispheres, bringing a lifetime of Datsun lessons to the stage.
On the upcoming New Zealand tour, frontman Dolf de Borst said:
“Feels like an age since the Datsuns played anywhere below the equator, let alone back in the Land of the Long White Cloud. So we’re extremely happy to announce a few shows back where it started. For many a year we’ve been foiled / fooled and waylaid by emergencies, surgeries and the general urgencies of day to day life, but finally, finally, we will make the pilgrimage home.
This coming March, join us for good times!”
Audiences can expect the full sweep of The Datsuns’ catalogue, from the anthems that scorched their early path to the first sparks of their eighth studio album, set to arrive in 2026. Leading the charge for their 2026 record, the single ‘Ugly Leather’ tears in with jagged riffs, and unrelenting fire – old energy, new fuel, same unstoppable inferno.
