Halton Hart Release New Single ‘Sweet Ride’: A Sound of Growing Maturity From Gore’s Family Collective

New Zealand’s young country music sensation Halton Hart have released their highly anticipated new single, ‘Sweet Ride’, this Friday 7th November. This track follows their popular releases ‘Grandad Mait’ and the award-winning ‘Little Boots,’ showcasing a powerful leap in musical maturity as the young artists continue to define their signature, contemporary country sound. Listen to the track here.

Caitlyn and Marissa are at the age of starting to fly on their own. Beginning to take chances on life and stepping into the big world out there. Keen motorbike riders especially on the farm, the girls wrote this with the idea of feeling free, taking risks when riding and taking that vibe into the new adventures ahead.

Halton Hart is a unique eight-piece family group of cousins working in various combinations, they are from Southland, the cultural heartland of New Zealand’s country scene in Gore. The title ‘Sweet Ride’ perfectly aligns with the girls’ well-known love of the outdoors, hunting, and four-wheel driving across remote hill country.

“This new single truly highlights where the girls are heading musically,” says manager and Auntie, Kayla Mahon. “They are growing up, they are developing their individual voices, and the maturity coming through in the songwriting and production is just fabulous. It’s the sound of a family finding its collective voice and hitting its stride. It’s a genuine ‘Sweet Ride’ for all of us.”

The collective—under the steadfast direction of Auntie Kayla Mahon, who has nurtured their musical journey since the age of two—is comprised of cousins who play a wide range of instruments, including acoustic guitar, bass, ukulele, banjo, and mandolin. Their name pays homage to their heritage, taking ‘Halton’ from Halton Street, the Gore home of their beloved Grandad Mait and Nana Horrell.

With a blend of traditional skill and modern flair, ‘Sweet Ride’ signals a new, exciting phase for the group who are poised to make a big impact beyond the Gold Guitars stage.
