Pōneke-based Powerhouse Deva Mahal Announces her Largest NZ Tour in Years and Reveals a Release Date for her Highly-Anticipated New EP

The incomparable Deva Mahal has today announced an eight-date Aotearoa tour, which will mark the release of her highly anticipated new EP, FUTURE CLASSIC VOL ll: FUTURE – out on Friday March 27.

The FUTURE CLASSIC Volume II Tour will kick off at the famed Waiheke Jazz Festival on Friday April 3; before heading south at The Crown in Dunedin on Thursday April 9; Kinross Winery Gibbston in Queenstown on Friday April 10 and Loons in Christchurch on Saturday April 11. The tour picks up again in the North Island at Totara Street in Mount Maunganui on Thursday April 16; Paisley Stage in Napier on Friday April 17, Meow Nui in Wellington on Saturday April 18 and Double Whammy in Auckland on Saturday May 2.

Funded through NZ On Air and supported by the NZ Music Commission, this will be Deva’s first major New Zealand tour in several years and will give fans the chance to experience the magic that is FUTURE CLASSIC VOL ll: FUTURE, which features the upcoming sultry new single ‘Slow Down’. Also on the EP are the already-released singles ‘South Coast’, ‘Need’, ‘Sometimes Good’ and ‘Til The Morning Comes’, as well as the never before heard song, ‘Someone’s Daughter’.

“I’m so honoured to be able to play this music with this incredible band! Together, we will be traveling to places that I haven’t been to in forever, and others that I have never played in before,” says Deva Mahal.

“It means so much to me to connect with folks from all over Aotearoa, this place that I call home. It’s all about connection.”

Born with the blues in her blood, Deva has forged a rare blend of masterful songwriting, breathtaking vocal talent, and soulful production. Her ability to convey both profound joy and deep sorrow through her lyrical and melodic compositions often leaves audiences moved to tears and overflowing with emotion.

Her career has taken her across the world working with an impressive array of musical minds, including Ledisi, Meshell N’Degeocello, Tiffany Gouché, The Resistance Revival Chorus, Kris Bowers, Butcher Brown, The Roots, Son Little, Allen Stone, The Dap Kings, Antibales, De La Soul, Fat Freddy’s Drop and more. She has performed at renowned venues and festivals such as the Hollywood Bowl, Carnegie Hall, Bonnaroo, and the Montreal Jazz Festival.
