Hannah Virk Releases Her Third Album Half Of My Cup

On Friday 11th September 2026, the unstoppable singer-songwriter and self-produced creative artist Hannah Virk hailing from Aotearoa New Zealand will release her third album Half of My Cup. The album release comes alongside the enchanting story of ‘Miss Optimist‘ which is portrayed through her new music video.

Follow Hannah through the trials and tribulations of encounters and social experiments that left her glad she walked away and stayed true to her path. Feel the emotional layers that she portrays with bright piano and guitar chords and her classic chimes and synths which are placed throughout her songs to surprise, delight and uplift as she shares the tales of a young woman finding her way in the world. Hannah doesn’t do things in halves, and this album packs a punch with all the bells and whistles, strings and fanciful dreams you could imagine tied together in a package of twelve rich songs. Roll up and don’t waste a moment to enjoy!

In Hannah’s words, “Half of my cup is a collection of happy sad moments. The songs are based around times where there was something you valued. Maybe incredibly valued or maybe were just a little glad about inside. And then you also knew it was for the best when it wasn’t there. Near misses (‘Ten Years Ago’) and happy mistakes, fleeting encounters (‘Until the Next Life’), coming to terms with your own life scenarios and finding acceptance (‘Happy 4 You 2’). Miss Optimist is one of the pivotal songs and plays off the theme of the album. It is a tribute to my persevering nature and the genuine belief that if you carry on your own course things will work out, despite what others may say.

Hannah Virk’s debut album, 2024’s Upstairs/Downstairs, launched her into the musical community of Aotearoa, putting her on the map as an independent artist. Her second self-produced album Pocket Clocks built on her artistic creativity, enhances her musical identity with tighter rhythms, more instrumentation, and sharper ideas than ever before.

Hannah’s song making process is entirely her own from start to finish. Her lyrics drive her songs and are drawn from inspiration taken from past and current experiences, creating a dreamscape diary like style to the music. The chords and melodies are often crafted during the song productions, adding to the experimental and raw style that is then sculpted into gems that are shared as part of a wider collection through Hannah’s mixing and mastering of each song on the album. What you hear is truly unique and is what has built the foundation for Hannah to share her songs throughout Aotearoa and abroad through online and live performance platforms.
