Following their sold-out The Beths By Request – Test Run at Auckland’s Hollywood Avondale this week, and with their United States tour kicking off this weekend at Chicago’s Riot Fest, The Beths are marking the occasion with a catchy new remix of their song “Metal”, reworked by fellow Kiwi musician and producer Nik Brinkman.

“We listened to Nik’s remix together after a band practice, and it was a sudden and unexpected joy,” the band described. “It’s listening to our song with so much baggage removed from writing and recording it, from playing it one way a couple hundred times, from trying to be the musicians we wish we were. We let go of our songs over and over again in making recordings and releasing them, and this time it was fun.”

Last year The Beths released ‘Straight Line Was A Lie’, their breakout fourth studio album that appeared on ‘Best of 2025’ year-end lists at Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, PopMatters, Slate and more. “As [Elizabeth Stokes] sings, her bandmates conjure a jangling maelstrom that sounds a little like the Cure going pop. It’s simple stuff … but, on any given listen, it feels like the secret to the universe,” gushed Pitchfork.

Following co-headlining tours this past summer with Spoon and Beach Bunny, The Beths hit the road again this week to begin a new monthlong set of US tour dates. In addition to standard festival sets at Riot Fest and All Things Go, The Beths will play a series of headline shows entirely by request – where fans will choose the band’s set list in real time during the show. These special, intimate shows round out eighteen months of touring ‘Straight Line Was A Lie’ and mark the band’s final US shows for 2026.
