Today, Wellington four-piece Wet Denim release their highly anticipated third EP, Water For Dogs – a euphoric and expansive project from one of Aotearoa’s most exciting emerging acts.
Accompanying the release is focus track ‘Outdated’, made with the support of NZ On Air and complimented by its eclectic music video.
Produced by Ben O’Leary of multi-platinum New Zealand band Drax Project, Water For Dogs shows Wet Denim pushing beyond the boundaries of their established rock foundations, leaning into carefully crafted songwriting, melodic instinct and moments of expansive, emotionally charged atmosphere. The result is a record that feels unmistakably Wet Denim while revealing a band willing to take risks, challenge themselves and let their sound evolve.
The band explains, “Water For Dogs is our most raw and honest project to date. We leant into the feeling we all get from playing in a room together – with all the energy, emotion, and live magic included. As a result, it’s equally satisfying as it is quite daunting to have it out in the world. We hope people find as much enjoyment listening to these songs as we did making them.”
In true Wet Denim style, the band are rearing to play the new music live. Hometown Wellington fans can expect a surprise announcement for them tomorrow, before they kick off the Water For Dogs EP Release Tour next Friday 25 September. Tickets for all shows are available now via wetdenim.com
