Aotearoa soul artist TEEKS (Ngāpuhi, Ngāi Te Rangi, Ngāti Ranginui) announces his highly anticipated new album Lovers Comet, arriving Friday 30 October via Sony Music alongside the release of new song ‘Overdose‘ out now.

Five years on from Something To Feel, the album that cemented TEEKS as a household name, Lovers Comet sees TEEKS enter a new creative orbit. Following a period of profound personal and creative evolution, the album delves into desire, intimacy, identity and the transformative power of love through a deeply personal and celestial lens.

In TEEKS’ words – Lovers Comet is a meditation on desire – its purity, its danger, its euphoria, its shadow. The album explores love not as fantasy, but as a cosmic phenomenon: magnetic, unpredictable, breathtaking, and occasionally destructive. Like a comet, love passes through our lives with force and beauty – illuminating, disrupting, and ultimately transforming us.

‘Overdose’ offers the second glimpse into this new body of work after lead single ‘My Boy’ was released in June. An intoxicating exploration of desire and surrender, ‘Overdose’ captures the overwhelming pull of attraction the moment when feeling becomes all-consuming and the boundaries between pleasure, vulnerability and danger begin to blur.

The track invites listeners into the intoxicating gravitational pull at the centre of Lovers Comet.

“I was inspired to write ‘Overdose’ after reading The Song of Achilles. The song refers to love as an act of worship. The devotion of one’s self to another, similar to one’s devotion to god. For to witness them is to witness the divine. A presence so powerful, so intoxicating you become undone.

This project feels both ancient and futuristic. It carries the timeless sincerity of soul music, but its visual and sonic palette leans into something celestial, mythic, and spacious. TEEKS is the guiding voice amid a wide emotional universe – the observer, the narrator, and the lover caught in orbit.
