Indie-rockers Fan Club Celebrate the Last Days of Summer with Nostalgic Video for ‘Westbound’

After dropping their brand new single ‘Westbound‘ on Leap Day, Auckland four-piece Fan Club have today revealed the video for their latest indie-rock anthem.

Written on the westbound train to Swanson in Tāmaki Makaurau, Westbound has a driving beat, epic guitar riffs and captures that ‘last days of summer’ vibe, while nodding to themes of love, loss and longing. Feelings perfectly portrayed in the video, which was directed by Luke Penney and shot by Julian Wagner, and filmed in various locations across Auckland. Westbound is made possible by NZ on Air.

Fan Club were the 2023 winners of the Auckland Regional Final of the SmokeFree RockQuest and took out the band award in Raise Up’s New Found Sound 2023.

Last Thursday, on Leap Day, the band aptly marked the release of Westbound by bungy jumping off the Auckland Harbour Bridge. The idea for the band bungy came after they were runners up in the A.J. Hackett Bungy’s inaugural Thrash More competition, which aims to celebrate young homegrown musical talent. They were joined by local music aficionado Cam Mansel.
