Ringlets Share Music Video for ‘New Life’ + Release Limited Edition 7″

Last month Tāmaki-based post-punk quartet Ringlets unveiled their first new music in over a year, the boisterous new-wave anthem ‘New Life’. Praised by the likes of Rolling Stone AU/NZ and The Listener upon its release, now the band divulge an eccentric mixed-media video to match, available to watch on Friday, June 14th.

Edited by snot a.k.a Keria Paterson, the video features an array of footage captured across the bands various performances and recordings dating back to early 2023.

“The music video showcases the band’s charismatic personas, as well as highlighting their collaborative and performative history as a group.” said Paterson of the video, “Combining freaky stock footage with a plethora of mixed media footage from the band, it was a thrill to bring together a video that showcases the song, as well as celebrate their touring achievements from the past year.”

“After a busy percussive start that recalls the underrated English post-punk Duds, “New Life” explodes into a wonderful new wave style that vibrates with life – new life – and demands that you play it again immediately after one listen ends.” Conor Lochrie, Rolling Stone AU/NZ.

New Life’ is also available now in-store and online as a limited edition 7” thanks to Leather Jacket Records and Flying Nun Records. ‘New Life’ is nicely paired with an exclusive, vinyl-only b-side; the sardonic and brooding ‘Scam Me’, prised from the depths of Ringlet’s shimmering unreleased catalogue.

New Life’ invites listeners into a new narrative while nodding towards the band’s evolving journey. “New life, best life, fast life, new life,” Ringlets beckon audiences to delve deeper into the chaotic nature and unfamiliar stomping ground of a new life.
