Alt-Pop-Punk Rockers THE TRANSITS Release Addictive New Single + Video ‘GHOST OF THE SUMMER’

Rising NZ-South African alt-punk trio THE TRANSITS kick off 2025 by delivering a soaring indie-pop rock anthem with ‘GHOSTS OF SUMMER’, a hook-laden, radio-friendly earworm for your summer playlist.

Blending driving guitars, thunderous drums, and unforgettable hooks, ‘Ghosts of Summer’ delves into themes of self-reflection and growth by exploring the bittersweet echoes of the past. Through the metaphor of speaking to ‘ghosts’, the song evokes remnants of who we once were, which surface in quiet moments of introspection. It captures the lingering ache of past choices and moments, while urging listeners to confront their ‘ghosts’ with courage.

Heavy on nostalgia but determinedly forward-thinking, The Transits blend their love of cult horror flicks, surf ‘n’ skate culture, teenage testosterone, punk, indie, and synth-pop into big, boisterous, anthemic tunes with a dark, gothic-cinema edge. The band’s dichotomy is evident in their music and visuals, which are light yet dark, familiar yet fresh, quiet then loud, and impossibly catchy while sometimes sinister.

The Transits are a talented trio consisting of Dom Antelme (vocals, bass) and Tyrone Smith (drums), both now based in Auckland, alongside Ryan Lunn (vocals, guitars, synths, production), who still resides in Durban. Despite the distance, the band effortlessly creates their music remotely.

Their compact, hard-hitting songs feature catchy melodies, classic pop-punk songwriting, searing guitar hooks, and intricate production. This winning formula has grabbed media attention and resulted in immediate success for the trio.

In 2024, The Transits released their self-titled debut album, with two of the four singles charting in the Top 40 in South Africa, and their addictive hit single ‘When You Went Away’ even breaking into the Top 10. The band has received glowing features and reviews across major music media in the US, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa, including a notable feature in Rolling Stone magazine.

The band’s 2025 journey begins with their lead single ‘Ghosts Of Summer’, accompanied by an epic music video. Over the course of the year, they will unveil a series of key singles and B-sides, all building toward the release of their second album.

Although The Transits have a deep love for nostalgia, they’ve firmly left the past behind in favor of creating a fresh, vibrant sound that will find its way into your head and rattle around for days. Good luck trying to shake it off.
