Emerging indie-pop star jeline has today released her soft, melancholic single ‘each year’, returning to music in 2025 after a little hiatus!

‘each year’ is a more personal look into the artist’s life and internal doubts and worries – as both an indie artist and herself growing older. jeline explores a new but not too unfamiliar sonic space, where she and long-time producer Jack Hegarty find the balance between their usual indie pop sound, and the delicacy a folk mix brings to this sensitive piece.

“I wrote this song in the beginning of my musical journey in 2021, where everything was all new and daunting,” jeline reveals. “ Though as I grew old and became more experienced in my music, and as a person in general, that feeling of being left behind and having not made much progress with life still remained,”

jeline’s first release of 2025 expands upon her previous singles ‘time stops’ (Tearaway, Flash Trax, R1, 13th Floor), ‘are you over her?’ (Radio Active, Billie, Radioscope, New Tracks ), and ‘lil bluebird’ (Happy Mag, The Most FM, Radio Control), whilst adding a new subtle folk spin to her indie pop-rock signature.

Like her previous three singles, ‘each year’ was produced with producer Jack Hegarty at Massey University Wellington in 2023. The track was finished by Jpec who mixed and mastered the song at his home studio.

“This song has evolved and developed so much more meaning as I’ve grown with it. After taking a break near the tail end of last year, trying to find my footing again and get back to where I was has been a bit of a daunting challenge – very topical. It feels like the right time to let this song out and I hope this can resonate with everyone as much as it has with me over the years.”
