blod [sic]’s latest single ‘wight’ is a dark, brooding electronic song with synthesizers and bass guitar, including distorted samples from the artist’s daughter.
Grab a cup of black coffee, a warm blanket and turn down the lights for this new haunting track by blod [sic] to fuel your anxiety.
Inspiration struck for Nick when they were playing with the vocal processing settings on a synthesizer with their young daughter and started recording the songs and sentences she sang into the synth. Later, Nick added drums, effects, various layers of bass guitar and additional synths and turned it into an unrecognizable track that might be best enjoyed alone in the dark.
‘wight’ will be out on all streaming platforms on Friday 23 August.

blod [sic] is a one-person electronic band based out of Auckland, New Zealand. Under this artist name, Nick (they/them) creates haunting music, often inspired by the electronic pop music of the previous century mixed with video game influences – both retro and current. Think electronica or lo-fi with a dash of horror, or sometimes horror with a dash of lo-fi. Add a sprinkling of retro on top and you’ve got it.
When younger, Nick played saxophone, guitar and bass but got distracted from creating music for a while. After moving to New Zealand, getting married and having a daughter, music production on portable hardware became a new passion.
