Christmas Carols Get an African Twist in NZ Musical Extravaganza ‘JingleBeatz! SIYAYA: “Bringing the heart of Africa to your Holidays“‘

Jinglebeatz! SIYAYA:”Bringing the heart of Africa to your Holidays” is a live concert event presenting a cross-cultural line up of Afro-kiwi musicians and singers performing Holiday favourites, African style, featuring traditional African instruments and sounds.

“Siyaya” means “we are moving” in Zulu—and that is the spirit of this production! For the third year running, JingleBeatz! aims to elevate and entertain new and old attendees by introducing a dynamic new format featuring The Wowliveband, an African band made up of musicians from Zimbabwe, Nigeria, Ghana, Zimbabwe, South Africa, and Mali. Together, they will reinterpret and transpose popular Christmas songs—such as ‘Jingle Bells,’ ‘My Favourite Things,’ and ‘Sleigh Ride’—infusing them with Afro-Jazz, Amapiano, and traditional African rhythms and instruments including djembe, cowbells, and African guitar.

The show will feature sounds and rhythms from The North of the continent, incorporating Egyptian, Moroccan, Sudanese and Algerian sounds and then continue down to Nigeria, then to Zimbabwe and finally end in a celebration of South African culture and flavour, featuring African guitar sounds and festive Marimba percussion stylings!

JingleBeatz!: SIYAYA features the talents of the WOW live band with Gabriel Mugadza serving as Musical Director and on Keyboards, Paul Gbohunmi on Bass, Sam Anyanka On drums, Michael Mugadza on second keys, Victor Anyanka on percussion, djembe and conga, Nigerian singer and percussionist Danni on traditional Nigerian drums (Omele). They are joined by singers Kuziwa Mugadza, Jane Benney, Francis Anyanka, Sasha Sabete, TiMMY the FIRST, and Host Graham Vincent.
