Nineteen-year-old Ihaka has released his 5-track EP, HELP! I’m Stuck In Genesis, available now on all major streaming platforms. The EP marks a milestone in his rise, blending experimental production with introspective storytelling.
HELP! I’m Stuck In Genesis takes listeners on a conceptual journey through creation, faith, and the complexities of being an artist. Each track builds on the previous one, forming a cohesive narrative that reflects Ihaka’s evolving artistic voice and willingness to push boundaries.
“This EP captures a time in my life when I felt stuck in constant ‘creation,’” says Ihaka. “Several major life events hit me at once, which gave me stories to write but also made things chaotic. It felt like my personal genesis—moving from chaos to light—which I suppose is music bringing form to madness.”
I produced the entire EP in my parents’ living room, and performed all of the instruments myself except for the saxophone in ‘Starworks’, played by Mason Bailey, and the bass in ‘Covenant’, played by Lukas Smith.
This is Ihaka’s biggest project since 2024, the year that hosted his first single, “Teenage Angst,” and placed him as a finalist in the Play It Strange National Songwriting competition, and also since he led a group of young creatives called “The Ariel Project,” which threw music events for the youth in Taranaki.
With growing attention from online audiences and a steadily expanding fanbase, Ihaka continues to carve out a unique space in the independent music scene. This latest release highlights a refined yet organic approach to both production and lyrical depth, positioning the artist as one to watch.
