Fresh off their first ever North Island tour, Pōneke neo-soul seven-piece Fine Wine Social Club have announced their debut LP, Sangria.

Featuring eight songs already well familiar to the band’s dedicated fanbase, Sangria brings together a collection of tunes written in preparation for the band’s massive 20 show run at World of WearableArt. Sangria blends influences from all extremes of the musical world into one ambitious but extremely rewarding album, proving the band are not afraid to dip their fingers into as many unexpected musical pies as they can.

Recorded, mixed and mastered by Dan Goodwin at his newly established studio, Ragdoll Recordings, Sangria is as much an ode to where the band has come from in its musical evolution, as it is to where the band is today, bringing together the sounds, ideas and personalities that give Fine Wine their distinctive Wellington sound.

Sangria features instrumental and vocal performances from all of the band’s current members, in addition to performances by dearly departed (they didn’t die don’t worry) Toby Sussex and Will Hanlon. They’re sorely missed. No one’s got harmonies like Toby.

Fine Wine takes the listener on a musical tiki tour throughout the project, arriving at destinations such as neo-soul, jazz fusion, reggae/dub, synth pop, house and even a brief layover at metal.

Hot off the tail of WoW, FWSC embarked on a four stop North Island tour in preparation for the release of the album. Tunes were played, vans were hired, cables were coiled and kebabs were eaten.

Now, with their debut LP ready to make its way into the world, Fine Wine Social Club are looking forward to celebrating Sangria before disappearing back into the shadows to chef up the next one.
