Ōtautahi native Harry Burt is winding back the clock (and the TV) with his sitcom inspired pop song ‘Janice’, a playful rant that compares a romantic relationship to that of Friends characters Chandler and Janice.

After releasing his first proper pop tune last May, Janice follows in the footsteps of this new Harry Burt electric pop sound. After romantic experiences in his own life, Harry realised he was in a sort of loop a lot like Chandler was with Janice in Friends. Through television puns and a deep pocket beat Harry laughs at his own misfortune in one-sided feelings.

“Janice and Chandler seemed to always come back to each other and he wouldn’t quite know why. He would expect to get hurt or not be happy yet he would do it anyway, and that felt rather familiar.” says Harry. Produced by LEVI the song is built on its keyboard parts and bright guitars, driven by an active bassline and deep backbeat. Harry hopes folks will laugh at his comparison and enjoy a fun reminder that sometimes what we want to do isn’t what’s best for us when it comes to love.

The release of Janice on the 21st of March solidifies Harry’s new pop sound and will bring his listeners back into his journey leading up to the release of his EP in May 2025. Harry is so grateful for the support of his music and can’t wait to share Janice.
